But, I can't keep running, Ektor Ntourakos
A face submerged in blue. Almost gone, yet unmistakably present. Where the Sneaker series dissolved objects into atmosphere, here it is a person that fades.
The title says what the painting won't. A moment of stopping, caught between movement and stillness. Ntourakos works from found imagery — magazines, advertising, urban visual culture — and transforms it through paint into something slower, more suspended.
His practice raises a question that runs through all his work: how can painting contribute to the discourse about the formation of public space? This work steps outside the Sneaker series, but carries the same inquiry. The urban subject turned inward. The blur as a way of seeing.
A singular work.
